ACP News Obtains Security Video in Downtown Ashland Burglary as Investigation Continues
ASHLAND — ACP News has obtained Security video connected to the recent burglary at Diamond Shine Nails, 48 W. Main St., as Ashland Police Division detectives continue their investigation into the overnight break-in that rattled downtown Ashland.
According to the video, the two suspects were in and out of the business in less than one minute, moving quickly and deliberately after smashing through the front window. While faces may not be clearly identifiable, investigators and business owners are hopeful that someone may recognize a voice, clothing, body type, or the distinct manner in which the suspect(s) move.
“Someone knows who they are,” said business owner Saionara Frederick. “We just need that one person to come forward.”
The burglary occurred at approximately 11:42 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, when the two suspects shattered the large front window of Diamond Shine Nails, causing extensive damage. Security footage shows the two intruders forcibly removing the cash register, and fleeing back out through the same window they entered — all in a matter of seconds.
While an undetermined amount of cash was taken from the register, the most devastating loss was the theft of $623 raised through a holiday raffle — money that was never meant for the business.
Those funds were intended to help a local single mother raising five young boys, a family already struggling after a recent house fire. Additionally, another set of raffle funds being collected by a Diamond Shine Nails employee for a church missions trip was also stolen during the break-in.
“This is something we do every year,” Frederick said. “We always try to help a family in need. I know what it’s like to struggle, and if I can help someone else, I will.”
Despite the burglary, Frederick says the act of giving will continue.
Ashland Police Division detectives continue to actively investigate the case. Anyone who recognizes the suspect(s) from the Security video — whether by voice, clothing, movement, or any other identifying detail — is urged to contact the Ashland Police Division.
Even though the suspect(s) were gone in less than a minute, the impact of their actions lingers — but so does the strength of the Ashland community, once again proving that when kindness is threatened, it only grows stronger.
