Ashland Rotary fireworks to again launch from Freer Field
Club is selling ‘Super Raffle’ tickets
With a new location comes a few new twists for the Ashland Rotary July 4th Fireworks on Friday.
This marks the second year the fireworks will launch from Freer Field, creating new viewing options and opportunities to create new traditions on the field itself.
Mayor Matt Miller calls it a “big community tailgate party.”
Another one of those new twists is 88.9-WRDL, Ashland University’s community radio station, will be broadcasting live from Freer Field. In addition to its fireworks synchronized soundtrack, the pre-show beginning at 9:15 p.m. will feature the drawing of the winning ticket in the Rotary Super Raffle drawing.
For more than 40 years, the Rotary Club of Ashland has produced the community’s fireworks display. The club is once again selling Fireworks Super Raffle tickets to help fund the annual
fireworks display while building an endowment fund to assure their long-term future.
Fireworks Super Raffle tickets are $100 each, with a maximum of 150 tickets being sold. The pot could be worth up to $7,500 if all tickets sell. The winning ticket drawing also will broadcast on the Rotary Club’s Facebook page, @ashlandohrotary, along with 88.9-WRDL.
Raffle tickets can be purchased from Rotary Club members; online at ashlandrotary.net, at Armstrong Cable, 1215 Claremont Ave., or email mpiskur1@gmail.com. The deadline is Friday, July 4th at 5 p.m.
“This special annual Fourth of July Fireworks event does not happen by itself. It is a result of the support we receive from over local businesses and sponsors, including our lead sponsor, Sarver Paving,” said Mitch Piskur, Rotary fireworks chair.
