Ashland Youth Hunter Education Course Held at Davy Outdoor Education Center
ASHLAND — Area youth, spent Saturday at the Davy McClure Outdoor Education Center completing Ohio’s Youth Hunter Education Course. The daylong class, which ran from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., was led by certified instructors Don Burton and Tom Seamans, along with other Division of Wildlife staff.
The 10-hour course is required for youth and adults alike who wish to obtain an Ohio hunting license. Topics covered included conservation, hunting ethics, firearm and archery safety, and the proper handling of equipment. Students were provided with study materials and concluded the training with a 100-question exam. A minimum score of 75% is required to pass and receive certification.
The Ashland Youth Hunter Education Course is part of a statewide program overseen by the ODNR Division of Wildlife. Registration is available online, and all necessary equipment for instruction is provided on-site.
