Burt Williams Announces Candidacy for Ashland County Commissioner
ASHLAND — Burt Williams officially announced his candidacy for Ashland County Commissioner on Tuesday evening during an Ashland Coalition Meeting. Williams will seek the Republican nomination in the upcoming primary election on May 5th.
Williams currently serves as a Perry Township Trustee, a role in which he has focused on responsible fiscal management, local infrastructure, and representing the interests of township residents. Additionally, he serves on the Ashland County Land Bank, Polk/Jackson-Perry Fire Department Board, Ashland County Planning Committee, and as a local business owner. His experience in township government has provided him with firsthand knowledge of the challenges facing local governments and the importance of practical, common-sense leadership.
“County commissioners control how taxpayer dollars are spent. I’ve worked with budgets in the private sector, in government, and as a township trustee—it comes down to knowing where the money goes and making responsible decisions.”
During his announcement, Williams emphasized his commitment to conservative values, fiscal responsibility, and ensuring that county government remains accountable to the people it serves. He highlighted the need to support public safety, maintain vital infrastructure, and promote economic growth while protecting the character and values of Ashland County.
Williams’ campaign will focus on listening to residents across the county and bringing a practical, local-government perspective to the Board of County Commissioners.
Williams and his wife, Alisha, are proud parents of four children—Madelyn, Everett, Wayde, and Evelyn. Deeply rooted in Ashland County, the Williams family values faith, hard work, and community involvement. Burt often credits his family as his greatest motivation for public service, saying that being a husband and father shapes his commitment to responsible leadership and to building a strong, safe future for the next generation.
