Car Crashes Into Home After Driver Swerves to Miss Deer in Nankin Township
 
NANKIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Emergency crews responded to a car-versus-house crash late Monday afternoon in Nankin Township after a driver swerved to avoid a deer and lost control of her vehicle.
 
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:42 p.m. in the 900 block of County Road 801. Troopers were assisted on scene by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Nankin Fire & EMS and Gearheart’s Towing and Recovery.
 
Troopers said Ava Ward, 19, of Mount Gilead, was driving a 2010 blue Ford Focus southbound on County Road 801 when she swerved to miss a deer that entered the roadway. The vehicle left the road, traveled approximately 250 feet, and struck a nearby residence.
 
Ward was treated at the scene and transported by Nankin EMS to UH Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland. She sustained non-incapacitating injuries.
 
No injuries were reported inside the home at the time of the crash.
 
Ward was cited for failure to control, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol. Damage to the residence was reported.
