Celebrating Nature’s Bounty: Antlers & Anglers Sportsman’s Showcase Thrills Attendees at Ashland County Fair Grounds

The Ashland County Fair Grounds recently played host to the eagerly anticipated 8th annual Antlers & Anglers Sportsman’s Showcase, a vibrant celebration of the great outdoors crafted by Armstrong. Enthusiastic attendees, ranging from seasoned hunters to avid anglers, enjoyed a various array of activities and attractions tailored to suit every outdoor enthusiast’s taste.

Amidst the picturesque backdrop of the fairgrounds, families flocked to partake in a myriad of engaging activities, from thrilling demonstrations to delectable culinary delights. Among the highlights was a mouthwatering cooking demonstration by none other than Ashland County Prosecutor Christopher Tunnell, affectionately known as “The Wild Chef,” who tantalized taste buds with his savory Rabbit and Sausage Gumbo.

Adding to the excitement, the “Getting Bit Fishing Team” journeyed from Harrisville, West Virginia, to impart invaluable fishing wisdom through captivating demonstrations, captivating audiences with their expertise and passion for angling.

For the younger attendees, the fishing pool stocked with lively Bluegills proved to be a major draw, offering budding anglers the chance to experience the thrill of reeling in their catch firsthand. Meanwhile, the nerf gun shooting range, overseen by local greats such as Bob DeSanto of DeSanto & Kellogg Law Office, provided endless entertainment as participants took aim at turkey targets with precision and skill.

Throughout the building, a multitude of booths beckoned visitors with an enticing array of offerings, from outdoor gear and accessories to artisanal crafts and delectable treats. Notable participants included esteemed organizations such as the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, Ashland Police Department R.O.C.K. program, and the Ashland County Park District & Wildlife Conservation Farm, each showcasing their commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship.

Among the hustle and bustle, attendees were treated to a host of additional attractions, including the awe-inspiring Hawg Trough, the captivating Outback Ray’s Amazing Animal Show, and the irresistible aroma of Sir Pops A Lot Kettle Corn.

In a display of generosity, all proceeds from the Antlers & Anglers Sportsman’s Showcase will be donated to Catholic Charities of Ashland County, underscoring the event’s unwavering commitment to giving back to the community and fostering goodwill.

As the sun set on another successful showcase of outdoor splendor, participants departed with cherished memories and a renewed appreciation for the wonders of nature, eagerly anticipating the next installment of the annual tradition.
