Charles Mill Lake Park Fireworks Restricted to Campers Only Due to Ongoing Construction; Beach Closed for 2025 Season
Mifflin Township, OH – Charles Mill Lake Park will host a fireworks display on Saturday, July 5 to celebrate Independence Day—but with a major caveat. Due to ongoing construction, the event will only be open to registered campers, and the public is being asked to seek alternative viewing plans.
“We’re excited to celebrate Independence Day with a fireworks show at Charles Mill Lake Park,” said Adria Bergeron, Director of Marketing & Communications. “However, due to ongoing construction, the park will not be open to the public for fireworks. Only registered campers will be permitted to enter the park.”
Marina parking will also be heavily restricted. “Parking is limited to dockers and boat rental customers only,” Bergeron said. “We understand this may be disappointing, but construction has significantly impacted available parking. We’re sharing this early, so you have time to make alternate plans or adjust accordingly. Thank you for your understanding and support.”
As an alternative, Bergeron invites the public to attend a second fireworks show scheduled at Pleasant Hill Lake Park on Saturday, July 19 as part of its “Christmas in July” celebration. That event will be open to everyone.
In addition to the fireworks limitations, Bergeron confirmed that the swim beach at Charles Mill Lake Park will remain closed for the entire 2025 season due to a large-scale renovation project. The construction will also restrict public access to the entire beach peninsula, including the playground, picnic shelters, and Messerly Center.
The multi-phase improvement project will include:
New concrete pads and full utility hookups for primitive campsites
Construction of a new restroom and renovation of the current facility
A new community playground and sports courts
An ADA-accessible fishing pier
A picnic shelter and shaded areas
A concrete pad with utility hookups for food trucks
The project is slated for completion by June 2026.
“We are working to enhance your future experience at Charles Mill Lake Park,” Bergeron emphasized.
Residents looking for fireworks on July 5 are reminded: only registered campers will be permitted into Charles Mill Lake Park. The general public is encouraged to visit Pleasant Hill Lake Park on July 19 for a full-access celebration.
