Disaster Relief Haulers Mobilizes Aid for Ranchers Impacted by Western Wildfires

PERRYSVILLE, Ohio — As destructive wildfires continue to burn across several western states, a central Ohio nonprofit with deep roots in agricultural disaster response is once again heading west to deliver critical aid to ranchers and farmers who have lost nearly everything.

In a recent Facebook post, Disaster Relief Haulers (DRH) announced plans to launch a major relief convoy departing March 19, carrying what the organization calls “loads of hope” to communities devastated by fire.

“Our farmer and rancher friends are experiencing some devastating effects of the fires,” the organization wrote. “These folks have lost absolutely everything needed to run a ranch and take care of animals.”

DRH’s mission traces back to 2017, when the massive Starbuck wildfires tore through many of the same regions now burning. Those fires, leaders say, were where the organization’s disaster-response roots were formed. Nearly a decade later, DRH is returning to help with many of the same needs — but on an even larger scale.

Call for Drivers, Volunteers, and Donations

To make the March 19 trip possible, Disaster Relief Haulers is seeking volunteer drivers, on-the-ground helpers, donated supplies, and monetary contributions to cover fuel and transportation costs.

The most urgently needed items include:

Hay (round bales and large or small square bales)

Cattle feed

Calf feed, including bottles and milk replacer

Fencing supplies (additional specifications to be announced)

Hand tools

Horse feed and related equipment

“These are current items needed, and the list may change as conditions evolve,” DRH noted, encouraging supporters to check back frequently for updates.

How to Help

Disaster Relief Haulers is an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, meaning all contributions are tax-deductible.

Monetary donations can be made:

Ongoing Mission

Based in central Ohio, Disaster Relief Haulers focuses on humanitarian aid during natural and major disasters affecting both human and animal communities. The group regularly coordinates large-scale logistics operations to move agricultural supplies where they are needed most — often when local resources are overwhelmed.

DRH leaders are asking supporters to share their call for help widely as the March departure date approaches.

“Please share this post as much as possible so we can get the word out,” the organization said. “Thank you.”
