Dispatcher Susan M. Kelley Named Wooster Dispatch Center’s 2025 Dispatcher of the Year

WOOSTER — The Ohio State Highway Patrol has announced that Radio Dispatcher Susan M. Kelley has been selected as the 2025 Telecommunications Award recipient for the Wooster Dispatch Center, recognizing her exceptional service, leadership, and dedication throughout the past year.

Kelley, 63, was chosen by both sworn officers and fellow dispatchers—an honor that reflects strong peer support and the high regard in which she is held. The selection criteria included her exceptional technical knowledge, dependable on-the-job performance, teamwork, and her consistently prompt and courteous assistance to the public.

Dispatcher Kelley began her career with the Patrol in 2016 and has served at the Wooster Dispatch Center since joining the agency. Over the years, she has become a key figure in the communications hub, serving as a field training dispatcher and playing a vital role in mentoring new dispatchers entering the profession.

Her excellence has been recognized before. Kelley was named the 2024 Cleveland District Dispatcher of the Year and was also honored as a 2024 Gold Star Nominee for her ongoing commitment to community engagement and public safety support.

Originally from Muncie, Indiana, Kelley now resides in Ashland with her husband, Jim. Her continued dedication, professionalism, and service to law enforcement officers and the public have earned her widespread respect across the district.

Patrol officials say Kelley’s contributions exemplify the core values of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and highlight the critical—often unseen—role dispatchers play in keeping first responders and communities safe.
