Former Ashland Dentist Among Two Found Dead in Columbus Homicide Investigation
COLUMBUS — A tragic homicide investigation unfolding in Columbus is sending shockwaves back to Ashland County, as one of the two victims was a local dentist who spent years serving patients at Stone Creek Dental in Ashland before recently transferring to Columbus.
According to a Columbus Police Department press release, officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of North 4th Street in the Weinland Park neighborhood on Tuesday morning, Dec. 30, 2025, for a well-being check.

Officers arrived on scene at approximately 10:04 a.m. and discovered two adults inside the residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Columbus Fire Department Medic 7 personnel responded and pronounced both victims deceased at 10:11 a.m.
The victims were identified as Spencer Tepe, 37, and Monique Tepe, 39. Next of kin have been notified. Two small children were also found inside the residence and were unharmed.
Columbus Police confirmed the case is being investigated as a homicide. At this time, investigators say there were no obvious signs of forced entry, and no firearm was located at the scene. Authorities also stated they do not believe this was a murder-suicide.
Police initially responded to the home after a concerned caller requested a welfare check.
Detective Weiner is the lead investigator on the case and is being assisted by Detective Miller. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
