Holmes County Investigating Fatal Crash on State Route 39

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, OH — A 57-year-old Danville man was killed Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle crash along State Route 39 in Holmes County, according to Sheriff Tim Zimmerly.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:27 a.m. on July 22, 2025, just east of Township Road 455 in Washington Township. The victim, identified as Travis D. Jones, was pronounced dead at the scene by Western Holmes EMS.

Authorities said Jones was driving a 2009 Ford F-250 Super Duty towing a 2019 Goose Neck Trailer after loading items at a business in the Loudonville Industrial Park. He was traveling southbound on Banks Avenue when he failed to stop at the intersection with State Route 39. The truck and trailer crossed the highway, entered a private yard, and struck a creek embankment.

Investigators confirmed Jones was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Sheriff Zimmerly said the Holmes County Coroner, Dr. Leon Miller, is expected to order an autopsy to help determine whether a medical episode or other impairment contributed to the incident.

Western Holmes Fire and EMS, Loudonville Police, Fire, and EMS, and the Holmes County Coroner’s Office all responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
