“It Ends in Ashland”: 115-MPH Pursuit from Mansfield Crashes into Ravine
ASHLAND COUNTY, Ohio — A high-speed pursuit that began in Mansfield Wednesday afternoon came to a dramatic end in Ashland after the suspect lost control of a vehicle and crashed into a ravine.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol – Richland Post, the pursuit began at approximately 12:26 p.m. when a trooper observed a vehicle fail to stop at the intersection of North Stewart Road and Grace Street in Mansfield.
The driver, identified as Jeremiah Mallory, 18, of Dayton, was operating a 2021 Chevrolet Trax. When a Richland Post trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, turning right onto U.S. Route 42 northbound, triggering troopers to initiate a pursuit that reached speeds of approximately 115 miles per hour.
As the pursuit continued north into Ashland County, Ohio State Highway Patrol – Ashland Post and the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office joined the chase. Once the pursuit entered the City of Ashland, officers with the Ashland Police Division also assisted.
The pursuit came to an end at the intersection of U.S. Route 42 and U.S. Route 250, where the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed down into a ravine.
Mallory was taken into custody at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was later released. No injuries were reported as a result of the pursuit or crash.
It’s believe the vehicle involved in the pursuit was stolen, and investigators confirmed that Mallory had an active felony warrant at the time of the incident.
Authorities say charges are pending, and the incident remains under investigation.
