Local Modern Woodmen Members Honor Hometown Heroes
Local heroes, Detective Kara Pearce of Ashland Police Division & Detective Sgt. Mark Jump of the Ashland County Sheriff s office were recently recognized for their selfless dedication and service to the Ashland community during a Modern Woodmen of America member event on Wednesday.
Pearce and Jump were honored through Modern Woodmens Hometown Hero Program for their years of service and going above and beyond for the community and city of Ashland.
I was so excited to surprise them with this award. This is one of my favorite programs, but it s even better when they are surprised! says Lauren Stalnaker, local Modern Woodmen representative. Modern Woodmen s Hometown Hero Program gives us the chance to thank those who selflessly give back to make our daily lives better. Anyone in law enforcement is a hero in my book, especially with the years of service they have but also in how they have gone above and beyond both on and off the job!
As part of the Hometown Hero Program, members of the Ashland Modern Woodmen chapter and chapter leader and financial representative, Lauren Stalnaker presented both Pearce and Jump with a personalized plaque, certificate and a $100 award grant to be donated to the charitable organization of the honorees choice. Detective Jump designated his $100 award to United Way of Ashland County and Detective Pearce designated her $100 award to Ashland s Shop with a Cop program which she coordinates and has been instrumental in its success.
Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, the fraternal financial services organizations Summit chapters, chapters and youth service clubs provide opportunities for members to take part in social and educational activities and volunteer projects to meet local needs.
