Mansfield Police Investigating Fatal Shooting on South Main Street
MANSFIELD — A 18 year-old man has died following a shooting Sunday evening in the 200 block of South Main Street, according to the Mansfield Division of Police.
Officers were dispatched around 256 South Main Street after receiving reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they discovered a victim near an alley suffering from gunshot wounds. The individual was rushed to a local hospital but later died from their injuries, authorities said.
Detectives with the department’s investigative unit were called to the scene and continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the homicide. Police said no suspect information is currently available, and the victim’s identity is being withheld until family members are notified.
Chief Jason Bammann’s office emphasized that the incident does not appear to have been random and that investigators do not believe there is an immediate threat to the wider public.
