Medina County Discharging Firearm into Habitation
On May 18, 2025, at approximately 4:51 a.m., the Medina County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a home in the 5400blk Grafton Road, Valley City, being shot multiple times in a drive-by style shooting. The investigation found the property was occupied by 5 people at the time of the shooting. None of the individuals at the property were injured during the shooting.
The Medina County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau pursued several leads. The investigation led to 22-year-old Thomas E. Wurtz III, of Cleveland, being arrested for a Felony 2 charge of Improperly Discharging a Firearm into a Habitation Friday, May 30, 2025, by the Medina County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau. Sheriff Grice stated, “I am very proud of the detective, and the team of deputies, who worked this case. Their efforts led to a quick resolve of the case for both the victims and the citizens of Medina County.”
Thomas E. Wurtz III received a 10%, $200,000 cash or surety bond from Medina Municipal Court and bonded out of Jail on May 30, 2025. The case has been presented to a Medina County Grand Jury and Thomas E. Wurtz III was indicted on multiple felony charges.
