ODOT Plow Truck Rollover on State Route 511
ASHLAND COUNTY, Ohio — Emergency crews responded to a rollover crash involving a ODOT snowplow truck Monday evening on State Route 511, which also resulted in damage concerns to a nearby utility pole.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, and Hayesville Fire Department and EMS, units were dispatched at approximately 4:48 p.m. to State Route 511 for a reported rollover accident.
Troopers said James Schoonover, 58, of Ashland, was operating a 2024 International salt truck and was actively plowing snow while traveling southbound when the truck went off the right side of the roadway, rolled onto its side, and struck a utility pole.
Schoonover reported minor injuries and was not cited in connection with the crash.
Ohio Edison crews were called to the scene to evaluate the utility pole. After inspection, crews determined the pole did not require replacement.
Bates Garage & Towing responded to recover the overturned truck. Traffic on State Route 511 was temporarily impacted while emergency personnel, utility crews, and towing services worked the scene.
No other vehicles were involved.
