Ontario Police Department Public Safety Warning – Marshall Park
The Ontario Police Department is issuing a public safety warning regarding the discovery of small metal spikes placed in various areas of Marshall Park. These objects pose a significant risk of damage to those utilizing the park.
The City of Ontario Parks and Street department are working with the Ontario Police department and have completed a thorough search of the park grounds to locate and remove any additional hazardous items.
The Park is open and we strongly urge all community members to exercise caution when visiting the park and to remain on designated paths where possible.
The Ontario Police Department is actively investigating this matter. Anyone who believes they may have been a victim or who has information that could assist in identifying those responsible is encouraged to contact the Ontario Police Department at 419-529-2115.
We appreciate the public’s cooperation and vigilance as we work to address this serious road safety concern.
This is a direct warning to anyone responsible for placing hazardous spikes in the roadway.
These actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for human life. The placement of these devices creates an extreme and unacceptable danger to the motoring public, with a very real potential to cause serious injury or death, including fatal crashes.
Be advised: if you are involved in this activity in any way, you will be identified, apprehended, and held fully accountable. The Ontario Police Department will pursue the most serious criminal charges available under the law, without exception.
This behavior will not be tolerated. Stop immediately.
