Patrol Investigates Serious Injury Crash with a Hit-Skip Vehicle
Jackson Township — The Ohio State Highway Patrol was dispatched to an injury crash involving a motorcycle and a pick-up truck in the roundabout at US Highway 42 and State Route 302. A 2016 Honda GL1800 Gold Wing was traveling southwest on US Highway 42 and a white pick-up truck was traveling south on State Route 302.
The pick-up truck and the motorcycle collided within the roundabout. The white pick-up truck fled the area following the collision. The operator of the motorcycle was identified as 60-year-old Harry Turner of Mansfield, Ohio and his passenger was identified as 59-year-old Candace Turner of Mansfield, Ohio.
Harry Turner was flown from the scene by MedFlight to Akron City Hospital with serious injuries. Candace Turner was taken by Polk/Jackson/Perry Fire Department to Ohio Health Mansfield with serious injuries as well. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on-scene by the Polk/Jackson/Perry Fire District and the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office. The Roundabout was closed to traffic traveling southwest on US Route 42 for approximately 45 minutes while the crash was investigated.
