Third Suspect Arrested in Downtown Ashland Diamond Shine Nails Burglary; $50,000 Bond Set

ASHLAND — A third suspect has now been arrested and formally charged in connection with the December 2025 burglary of Diamond Shine Nails in downtown Ashland, bringing all three alleged participants in the case before the Ashland County Common Pleas Court.

According to court records and testimony presented during a bond hearing, Quortez Deshawn Dejour Grier, 27, was indicted by the Ashland County Grand Jury on two felony charges stemming from the late-night break-in at Diamond Shine Nails, 48 W. Main St.

Grier was taken into custody by the Ashland Police Division and appeared by video for bond proceedings on February 17, 2026.

The indictment alleges that on or about December 12, 2025, Grier unlawfully entered the unoccupied business by force, stealth, or deception with the intent to commit a theft offense.

Grier faces the following charges:

Breaking and Entering, a fifth-degree felony

Vandalism, a fourth-degree felony

Prosecutors further allege that the vandalism caused physical damage to the business exceeding $7,500, but less than $150,000, elevating the charge under Ohio law.

State: Grier Allegedly Carried Out Cash Register

During the bond hearing, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Matthew Metcalf told the court that surveillance video places Grier inside the business during the burglary.

Metcalf stated that Grier is believed to be the individual who carried the cash drawer out of Diamond Shine Nails, placing it into a vehicle driven by co-defendant Sharrisse Jones before the group returned to Mansfield.

The cash drawer reportedly contained approximately $500, including funds set aside for a holiday charity effort that was later replaced through overwhelming community donations.

Metcalf also outlined Grier’s extensive criminal history, which includes multiple prior felony convictions, failures to appear, probation and parole violations, and several prior prison sentences — factors the state argued warranted a high bond consistent with co-defendant Amaad Mack.

Following arguments from the state, Magistrate Emily M. Bates set Grier’s bond at $50,000, allowing for a surety bond, property bond, or cash deposit.

During the hearing, the court determined that Grier is indigent and appointed Donald Wick to represent him..

Grier’s arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., where he pled Not Guilty.

Case Background

The burglary at Diamond Shine Nails initially shocked the Ashland community not only for the significant property damage, but for the theft of funds intended to help a local family during the Christmas season. While the crime caused thousands of dollars in damage, community members ultimately replaced the stolen charity funds several times over.

All three defendants — Amaad Mack, Sharrisse Jones, and Quortez Grier — now face felony charges connected to the incident.

All charges remain allegations, and each defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
