Troopers Investigating Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on State Route 241
PAINT TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Friday morning on State Route 241, north of Mount Eaton near milepost 4 in Paint Township.
According to the Patrol, the Wooster Dispatch Center received a report of the crash at approximately 7:36 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026. A preliminary investigation indicates a dark blue 2012 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling southbound on State Route 241 when the driver lost control while rounding a slight curve. The vehicle crossed left of center and was struck by a northbound 2007 Ford EC3 van.
Both vehicles then traveled off the east side of the roadway and came to rest in a ditch line.
The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze, Ina M. Wengerd, 30, of Dalton, was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities said Wengerd was wearing her safety belt at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Ford EC3 van, Zeferino Navarro Vasquez, 27, of Canton, was also wearing his safety belt and was not injured.
Assisting at the scene were the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Paint Township Fire and EMS, the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, and Star American Towing.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
