Two Incidents Shut Down Claremont Avenue Thursday Evening
Ashland, Ohio – Ashland Police Division, along with the Ashland Fire Department & EMS were called to the scene of two serious incidents Thursday evening that brought traffic on Claremont Avenue to a standstill and sent at least one person to the hospital.
At approximately 4:10 p.m., Ashland Police Division officers, along with the Ashland Fire Department & EMS, responded to a two-vehicle crash in front of Advance Auto Parts on Claremont Avenue. The collision resulted in downed utility wires strewn across the roadway, forcing officials to shut down a portion of Claremont Avenue for public safety. As of this posting, the road remains closed while crews assess the damage and clear the scene. The accident remains under investigation by the Ashland Police Division.
Later, at 5:42 p.m., Ashland Police Division, along with the Ashland Fire Department & EMS were again dispatched to Claremont Avenue—this time in front of Miller’s-Hawkins Market at 1617 Claremont Ave—after a vehicle struck a pedestrian. The female victim was transported by Ashland EMS to Ohio-Health Mansfield Hospital for treatment. Her condition has not yet been released.
