Two Men Arrested After Passing Out at Downtown Ashland Bar; Later Identified as Undocumented Immigrants

ASHLAND — Two men who were found passed out on the floor of Bullshooters Bar late Tuesday night were arrested for disorderly conduct and later taken into federal custody after being identified as undocumented immigrants, according to police reports.

At approximately 11:56 p.m. on Oct. 8, Ashland Police Division dispatch received a 911 call reporting two intoxicated male subjects lying on the floor at Bullshooters Bar, 35 E. Main Street, in downtown Ashland.

When officers arrived at the scene — along with Ashland EMS personnel — they found both men heavily intoxicated and uncooperative. Police say the individuals either refused to identify themselves or provided false names.

According to the bartender’s statement to police, each man had been served two Coronas and one shot of tequila before they passed out on the floor.

Both men were taken into custody and charged with Disorderly Conduct – Intoxication, a misdemeanor offense under Ashland City Ordinance §509.03. Because the suspects refused to identify themselves, both were initially booked as “John Doe” and issued Obstructing Official Business citations under that name.

Both men were ordered to appear in Ashland Municipal Court at 9 a.m. on Oct. 10 at the Ashland Justice Facility, 1209 E. Main Street.

Further investigation revealed the men to be Ricardo Cabrera Sanches and Gerwan Sautiago Galvez, both of whom were determined to be in the country illegally. After notification, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed both individuals into federal custody for deportation proceedings.

One of the suspects initially gave police the false name “Mudesto Sanchez” and later changed his identity at the hospital to “Ricardo Hurez.”

Police noted in their report that the suspects “smelled strongly of consumed alcoholic beverage,” had fallen from a chair inside the bar, and “became heavily intoxicated to the point they passed out on the floor,” requiring emergency services.
