Two-Vehicle Crash Closes Lane on U.S. Route 42

ASHLAND COUNTY, OH – A two-vehicle crash sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries Saturday morning and temporarily reduced traffic on U.S. Route 42 to a single lane, according to the Ashland Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:39 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 42 and County Road 601. Troopers said Reilly H. Fastring, 20, of Slidell, Louisiana, was driving a 2012 Ford Escape eastbound on County Road 601 when he failed to yield from a stop sign, turning left into the path of a northbound 2008 Ford F-350. The F-350, which was pulling an ice trailer, was driven by Randall L. Stroh of Perrysville, Ohio.

Stroh sustained minor injuries in the collision, while Fastring suffered serious injuries and was transported by Ashland EMS to a nearby hospital.

Traffic on U.S. Route 42 was restricted to one lane for a period as emergency crews cleared the scene. The Ashland Fire Department, Ashland EMS, and Ohio State Highway Patrol all responded to the incident.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
