Two-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down SR 58 Intersection in Sullivan Township
SULLIVAN TOWNSHIP — A two-vehicle crash temporarily shut down a busy intersection in Sullivan Township late Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 5:18 p.m., deputies with the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, along with Sullivan Fire Department & Sullivan EMS, responded to a crash at the intersection of State Route 58 and Township Road 350.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a 2017 blue Kia driven by Kelly Kanzeg, 55, of Sullivan, was traveling northbound on State Route 58 and had slowed to make a left turn onto Township Road 350 when it was struck from behind by a 2024 gray Kia driven by Brian Lamont, 25, of Lorain, who was also traveling northbound.
The impact forced both vehicles off the left side of the roadway and into a ditch, where they struck and damaged a road sign and a telecommunications junction box. Due to the damage and vehicle removal, the intersection was closed for nearly an hour while emergency crews worked the scene.
Kanzeg was transported by Sullivan EMS to Lodi Hospital with minor injuries. Lamont was not injured in the crash.
Lamont was cited for Assured Clear Distance Ahead (ACDA). The crash remains under investigation by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office.
