18-Year-Old Killed in Motorcycle Crash on State Route 19
RICE TOWNSHIP — An 18-year-old motorcyclist died in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night on State Route 19 near County Road 127 in Sandusky County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:51 p.m. on October 3, 2026.
Troopers said Gavin B. McGlaughlin, 18, of Vermillion, was traveling southbound on a blue and white 2001 Harley-Davidson Road King when he failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.
McGlaughlin sustained fatal injuries. According to the Patrol, he was not wearing a helmet.
The Patrol’s Fremont Post is investigating the crash. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Sandusky County Coroner’s Office, Sandusky County EMS, Lindsey Fire Department and Triple J’s Towing.
