Ashland Dickey Church Invites Community to Free Sunflower Festival Saturday
ASHLAND — Ashland Dickey Church will welcome area families for a day filled with sunflowers, food and fellowship during its annual Community Sunflower Festival on Saturday, Aug. 22.
The free event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, located at 1509 Township Road 655 in Ashland.
Tyler Slaven, with Ashland Dickey Church, said hundreds of Ashland-area residents gather each year with family and friends to enjoy the festival.
“The event is always a ton of fun and is a way for our church to share our blessings with those around us,” Slaven said.
Visitors will have the opportunity for professional family photographs to be taken in the church’s sunflower field by That’s Nice! Photography of Ashland. Visitors can also enjoy bounce houses, a dunk tank, outdoor games and other activities.
A hot-air balloon pilot meet-and-greet is scheduled from 9 to 10 a.m. A static balloon inflation is also planned, weather permitting.
A free lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, or until out.
The festival is also expected to feature a show-and-tell display with a fire truck, police cruiser and tow truck. Participating organizations and agencies are expected to include the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Ashland Fire Department, Ashland Public Library Bookmobile, LifeWise Academy and the Ashland Christian Health Center.
Organizers said the festival provides an opportunity for residents of all ages to spend time together while connecting with local agencies, organizations and community partners.
Admission and activities are free.
