Driver Taken Into Custody After Reported Road Rage Shooting on U.S. 30
VERMILLION TOWNSHIP — A driver was taken into custody Thursday morning after a reported road rage incident involving gunfire on U.S. 30 near State Route 60 in Ashland County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:50 a.m. on October 1, 2026, and involved two vehicles traveling eastbound.
According to the Patrol, the drivers reportedly exchanged gestures before one driver discharged a firearm, striking the other vehicle. The vehicles then separated without further contact.
Troopers from the Ashland and Wooster posts located the involved vehicle a short time later and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ashland County Jail.
No injuries were reported.
Charges were pending at the time of the updated release. The Patrol did not identify the driver or specify the anticipated charges.
The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The incident remains under investigation.
