Firearm Discovery Leads to Drug Seizure at Mansfield Residence
MANSFIELD, Ohio — An arrest-warrant operation in Mansfield led authorities to seize two firearms, nearly $3,000 and suspected illegal drugs Thursday, according to the METRICH Enforcement Unit.
Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force went to a residence at 238 E. Second Street on Sept. 10 to serve an arrest warrant. While inside the residence, task force members reportedly observed a firearm in plain view and contacted the METRICH Enforcement Unit.
Information gathered during the investigation led METRICH investigators to obtain and execute a search warrant at the residence.
Authorities reported seizing:
A shotgun
A pistol
Nearly $3,000 in U.S. currency
Suspected fentanyl
Approximately 100 grams of suspected cocaine
The identity of the person connected to the arrest warrant was not provided in the agency’s news release. Authorities also did not announce any immediate charges resulting from the search.
METRICH officials said the investigation remains ongoing and charges will be filed at a later date.
“This enforcement action demonstrates the continued commitment of the METRICH Enforcement Unit and its law enforcement partners to disrupting drug trafficking and improving public safety throughout Richland County,” the agency stated.
METRICH is a 10-county decentralized task force serving North Central Ohio. Its mission is to reduce the availability of illegal drugs and weapons through proactive enforcement and cooperation among participating law-enforcement agencies.
