National Manufacturing Day Celebration Set for October 1st
ASHLAND, OH — National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) is celebrated by thousands of manufacturers across the country each year during the first week of October, highlighting the importance of manufacturing and the people who help drive the industry forward.
To celebrate the occasion locally, Ashland Area Economic Development has organized a food truck event in the Ashland Business Park. The community is invited to stop by on Thursday, October 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to purchase lunch from Star Spangled Express or Dough Pros Wood Fire Pizza. Ashland Area Economic Development will also provide free Culver’s custard to manufacturing employees who stop by during the celebration.
“We are very proud of the men and women who go to work every day in our community’s manufacturing facilities,” said Mayor Matt Miller, Ashland Area Economic Development Board President. “Anytime we can build a product here in the U.S.A., we are helping secure our nation’s future. To celebrate our local workers and their contributions to our country’s economy, we wanted to arrange a bit of fun during their workday.”
The local observance of Manufacturing Day will continue with student tours organized by Ashland Area Economic Development. Students from Black River High School, Heartland Technical Education Center, Hillsdale High School, and Loudonville-Perrysville High School will have the opportunity to tour Atlas, Barbasol, Chandler Systems, Novatex, SJE, and Simonson Construction Services.
“Manufacturing Day gives students a firsthand look at the careers and opportunities available right here in Ashland County,” said Cameo Carey, Director of Ashland Area Economic Development. “Connecting students with local manufacturers is an important step in building the skilled workforce our businesses need for the future. Today’s students are tomorrow’s manufacturing workforce, and these connections help keep that talent right here in Ashland County.”
Manufacturing continues to play an important role in Ashland County’s economy, and Manufacturing Day provides an opportunity to recognize the employees and companies whose work contributes to the strength and success of the community.
