Representative Miller Recognizes Ashland FFA Floriculture Team on House Floor

COLUMBUS—State Representative Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) was pleased to present a resolution to the Ashland FFA Floriculture Team during House session yesterday in recognition of the team’s first-place finish in the State Floriculture Career Development Event.

The team competed against 69 other teams from across the state at the event in Circleville on April 13th. Their tasks included plant identification using both common and scientific names, identifying plant diseases and pests, recognizing industry tools, evaluating plant and floral arrangement judging classes, and completing a bud vase practicum.

“The Ashland FFA Floriculture Team’s achievement at the state level reflects the dedication, talent, and perseverance each of these students brought to the competition” said Rep. Miller. “Their hard work and commitment have made our Ashland community proud.”

The team includes seniors Elise Frazer and Haley McNaull; sophomores Hannah McNaull, Gwenyth Miller, and Jaxon Greer (alternate); Todd Fox, FFA Advisor and agriculture teacher at Ashland High School and Heartland Technical Education Center; and coach Mary Cox, who led the team for the past four years.
