11-Year-Old Killed After Pickup Truck Crashes Into Wayne County Home
WOOSTER, Ohio — An 11-year-old boy was killed late Friday night after a pickup truck traveled off State Route 302 and crashed into a home in Wayne County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers from the Wooster Post responded to the serious-injury crash with entrapment at approximately 11:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, on State Route 302, also known as Madison Avenue.
According to the Highway Patrol’s preliminary investigation, a white 2007 Ford F-250 was traveling northwest on Madison Avenue when it went off the eastern side of the roadway and struck a residential structure.
Authorities identified the driver as 18-year-old Karas M. Wedge of Seville. Wedge sustained minor injuries and was transported to Wooster Community Hospital.
Eleven-year-old Emmet Sauers of Wooster was inside the residence when the pickup truck struck the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Wooster Police Department, Wooster Township Fire and EMS, Wooster Fire and EMS, the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, the American Red Cross, AEP and Rigz Towing.
