Armstrong Launches Ninth Annual Avenge Hunger Month Campaign
Armstrong has launched its ninth annual Avenge Hunger Month campaign, inviting customers, employees and community members to help fight food insecurity throughout its service area.
The 2026 collection drive began Aug. 24 and will continue through Oct. 4. During the campaign, local Armstrong locations will accept nonperishable food items and monetary donations for community feeding programs.
The campaign coincides with National Hunger Action Month in September and comes ahead of the final quarter of the year, when the need for food assistance historically increases.
Donations collected during the drive will help stock more than 200 feeding programs across Armstrong’s service area in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, Maryland and Kentucky.
Armstrong is also adding some friendly competition to the campaign. The company’s 13 local systems, Customer Service Center and Corporate Office will compete to see which location can contribute the most food, monetary donations and volunteer hours to local hunger-relief efforts.
Armstrong’s work to address food insecurity began in 2010 with its Breaking Bread initiative, which supports individuals and families experiencing hunger in the communities served by the company.
The first Avenge Hunger Month campaign was held in September 2018 to raise awareness of Breaking Bread and generate additional support for local food pantries and feeding programs.
During the past eight years, the campaign has collected nearly 240,000 pounds of food and more than $136,000 in monetary donations.
Armstrong was founded in 1946 by Jud L. Sedwick as Armstrong County Line Construction. The family-owned and operated telecommunications company now maintains a fiber network spanning six states.
