Loudonville Police Arrest Two, Issue Criminal Summons During Busy Week
LOUDONVILLE — Loudonville police arrested two people, investigated several complaints and assisted multiple emergency-response agencies during the week of Aug. 23 through Aug. 29, according to the department’s weekly activity report.
One arrest followed a reckless-motorcycle complaint at approximately 6:33 p.m. Aug. 24 in the 500 block of South Market Street.
Police located the motorcycle but learned that its driver had allegedly fled the area in another vehicle. The abandoned motorcycle was towed.
Following an investigation, officers identified the suspected driver as a 22-year-old Fredericktown man. He was later arrested on allegations of driving under a 12-point suspension, obstructing official business and displaying an obstructed license plate.
Earlier that afternoon, Loudonville police assisted the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Division of Natural Resources officers and emergency medical personnel after a man suffered an accidentally self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg in the 900 block of State Route 97. Officers helped provide aid to the injured man.
On Aug. 29, Loudonville police assisted the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office in locating a suspect accused of fleeing from a domestic violence incident. Officers found the suspect inside a vehicle in the 200 block of North Union Street.
The individual was detained until Holmes County deputies arrived and transported the suspect to the Holmes County Jail. The Loudonville report did not identify the suspect or list the charges filed.
Later that night, officers found a suspicious vehicle parked in the 100 block of East Main Street after normal business hours. Police reported seeing open beer cans in the vehicle’s cup holder.
When the vehicle’s owner, identified as a 20-year-old Perrysville man, arrived, officers issued him a criminal summons for allegedly having open containers of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Other calls handled during the week included:
Police investigated vandalism discovered inside a Riverside Park restroom Aug. 23. A roll of paper towels was found in a toilet, while burned and charred paper towels were discovered on the floor.
A 36-year-old Loudonville woman was cited for expired vehicle registration following an Aug. 23 traffic stop on North Water Street.
Officers responded to an Aug. 24 report of a driver leaving a North Union Street business without paying for gas. Police said the customer believed a card payment had gone through and later returned to pay the outstanding balance.
Police helped evacuate a building on North Water Street during a reported fire call early Aug. 25. Officials later determined that everything was safe.
Officers assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with dispatching an injured deer Aug. 26 on County Road 529.
Police and emergency medical personnel responded to a reported mental health crisis Aug. 28 on North Water Street. The individual requested transportation to a hospital by ambulance.
