Loudonville Police Assist With Two Pursuits, Crashes and Medical Emergencies During Busy Week
Officers responded to dozens of calls from July 26 through Aug. 1, including motorists fleeing law enforcement, warrant arrests, traffic crashes, medical emergencies and an assault investigation
LOUDONVILLE — Loudonville police assisted with two vehicle pursuits, investigated several crashes and supported neighboring law enforcement agencies during a busy week of calls between July 26 and Aug. 1.
One of the week’s most significant incidents occurred at approximately 9:33 p.m. July 28, when Loudonville officers assisted the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office with a traffic stop involving an individual who reportedly had an active warrant.
The stop began in the 300 block of North Mount Vernon Avenue, but the individual allegedly fled from law enforcement before coming to a stop in the 300 block of West Main Street. The individual was taken into custody and transported to a hospital before being lodged in the Ashland County Jail.
A second pursuit unfolded at approximately 2:28 a.m. Aug. 1, when Loudonville police assisted the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office. The pursuit ended on Township Road 2600, north of State Route 3. The driver was arrested and transported to the Holmes County Jail, while Loudonville officers helped deputies arrange for the vehicle to be impounded and towed.
Officers also assisted the Holmes and Knox county sheriff’s offices at approximately 9:33 p.m. Aug. 1 following a reported assault in the 23000 block of Wally Road.
Several traffic crashes were reported during the week.
At approximately 1:42 p.m. July 26, officers responded to a two-vehicle collision in the 100 block of South Market Street. No injuries were reported, but both vehicles had to be towed.
Police later assisted the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office with a reported motorcycle crash in the 600 block of State Route 39 at approximately 4:10 p.m.
On July 30, officers assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with a crash in the 900 block of State Route 97. The following day, a 42-year-old Oakwood man was cited for driving left of center and causing a collision.
At approximately 2:43 p.m. Aug. 1, police investigated another collision on East Main Street near Market Street. A 73-year-old Lewis Center man was cited for making a lane change without caution.
Officers made or assisted with multiple warrant-related arrests. At approximately 9:31 p.m. July 30, the Ohio State Highway Patrol notified Loudonville police that troopers had located an individual with an active Loudonville warrant. The individual was arrested and transported to the Ashland County Jail.
Medical emergencies also accounted for several calls. Officers assisted Loudonville EMS on North Water Street, South Water Street, East Bustle Street and elsewhere throughout the village.
During a reported mental health crisis in the 500 block of South Water Street on July 27, an individual was transported to a hospital by Loudonville EMS.
Police also assisted the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office during a traffic stop in the 16000 block of State Route 3 on July 30 after a medical emergency developed. Loudonville EMS treated the patient.
On Aug. 1, officers joined the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Loudonville EMS during a medical emergency in the 3000 block of County Road 3175.
Other activity during the week included:
A 22-year-old Perrysville man was cited for driving without a license July 26.
A 16-year-old Mansfield girl was cited early July 27 for driving without a license and failing to display license plates.
A person reported as suspicious in the 400 block of Campus Drive was warned for trespassing on private property.
Officers responded to a neighbor dispute in the 200 block of West Loudon Avenue and advised both parties on preventing further problems.
A 43-year-old Danville woman, a 69-year-old Loudonville man and a 28-year-old Des Plaines man were cited for speeding in separate incidents.
Police took a fraud complaint at the station July 31.
Officers investigated suspicious vehicles, business alarms, juvenile complaints, a 911 hang-up and an unoccupied vehicle left in the roadway.
A loose dog found in the 300 block of Stone Meadow Circle was taken to the Ashland County Dog Shelter after officers were unable to locate identifying tags or an owner.
A wallet found in a park was returned to its owner after a concerned citizen brought it to the police station.
Police assisted the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office with a trespassing complaint in the 16000 block of County Road 23.
In addition to the reported calls, Loudonville police conducted nine business checks and 17 traffic stops that resulted in warnings during the seven-day period.
