Ohio State Highway Patrol Plans OVI Sobriety Checkpoint This Week
ASHLAND, OH — The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Ashland Post announced Sunday that troopers will operate an OVI sobriety checkpoint sometime this week as part of an effort to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
The Patrol has not yet disclosed which county will host the checkpoint or where it will be conducted.
According to a media release issued by Ashland Post Commander Lt. Brian Beal, the county will be announced one day before the checkpoint. The specific location will be released on the morning of the operation.
OVI checkpoints are designed to identify motorists operating vehicles while impaired by alcohol or drugs while also reminding the public about the potentially deadly consequences of impaired driving.
Authorities encourage anyone planning to consume alcohol to designate a sober driver or arrange alternative transportation before drinking.
Additional information will be published when the Patrol announces the county, date and location of the checkpoint.
