Charles Mill Lake to Celebrate New Beach Area With Weekend Party, Live Music and Fireworks

MANSFIELD, OHIO — Charles Mill Lake Park is preparing for a packed weekend of summertime fun featuring the opening of its new beach campground and amenities, family activities, live music, food trucks and a spectacular fireworks display over the lake.

The Charles Mill Beach Party & Fireworks celebration will run from Friday, July 31, through Sunday, August 2, with activities planned for campers, families and visitors of all ages.

The weekend begins Friday at 2 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the new beach campground and amenities. Guests can enjoy refreshments while exploring the newly improved area.

At 3 p.m., pickleball players of all experience levels are invited to meet at the court near the beach for friendly round-robin matches. Equipment will be available, although participants may bring their own paddles and should wear shoes suitable for running.

Park program staff will travel through the camping areas from 6 to 7 p.m., stopping at campsites to distribute event information and fun craft kits. Friday’s activities conclude with Family BINGO from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Messerly Recreation Center.

Saturday’s schedule begins with coffee and doughnuts from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Messerly Recreation Center. Campers and visitors can relax, meet new friends and start the morning together. A donation is suggested.

Adults and teens ages 14 and older can create a summertime bubblegum-machine decoration from 11 a.m. to noon at the recreation center. Participants should wear clothing appropriate for painting.

The beach action picks up Saturday afternoon with T-shirt tie-dyeing from 4 to 5 p.m. at Picnic Shelter No. 1. Shirts will be available for $10 each, cash only, with sizes distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

At the same time, a massive Foam Party will take over the area near the beach from 4 to 6 p.m. Guests should arrive ready to get wet and have fun.

The celebration’s biggest events begin at 7 p.m. with a beach party featuring live music and food trucks. Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets or camp chairs and find a spot along the beach as The Goods, a 1990s cover band, performs until 10 p.m.

At dusk, the sky above Charles Mill Lake will light up with a fabulous fireworks display over the water, providing a colorful conclusion to Saturday’s festivities.

The weekend will close Sunday with a non-denominational church service at 10:15 a.m. at the Messerly Recreation Center.

Whether visitors come for the new beach area, crafts, foam, live music or fireworks, Charles Mill Lake Park is offering an entire weekend of family fun beside the water.
