Two Suspects Arrested After 27 Guns, Taser Stolen From Fin Feather Fur
Alarm call triggers multi-agency response, vehicle stop on Interstate 71 and hours-long search of Ashland store
ASHLAND — Two suspects were taken into custody and 27 firearms and a Taser were recovered following an early-morning burglary at Fin Feather Fur Outfitters east of Ashland, according to an Ashland County Sheriff’s Office dispatch report.
The incident began at approximately 1:39 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, when an alarm company reported activity at the business, located at 652 U.S. Route 250 East.
The alarm showed activity near the store’s east main entrance, upstairs windows and east archery area. Dispatchers described it as a verified intrusion signal.
Ashland County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched at 1:40 a.m., and the Ashland Police Division was also sent to assist.
Shortly after arriving, authorities reported finding broken glass. Information about a vehicle connected to the incident was sent to other law enforcement agencies.
At approximately 2:19 a.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on Interstate 71 near Lewis Center Road. One suspect was initially taken into custody, and authorities reported finding a backpack containing suspected stolen property.
A second suspect was reportedly taken into custody minutes later.
Troopers initially reported locating 14 firearms that still had Fin Feather Fur tags attached. Authorities continued searching the area for additional guns that may have been discarded.
By approximately 4:31 a.m., authorities reported recovering a total of 27 firearms and one Taser. The recovered items were held at an Ohio State Highway Patrol post until Ashland County deputies could retrieve them.
The Ashland County dispatch record identifies the suspects as 25-year-old Martell Lamont Dawson and 18-year-old Andez Tyrese Henry, both of Columbus, both have court appearances today,
The dispatch report also lists two Hyundai Elantras in connection with the investigation. Authorities reported that one vehicle had been hotwired, with its ignition torn out. Another vehicle was described as heavily damaged after its driver allegedly missed the Fin Feather Fur driveway and crashed.
While arrests were reported in the dispatch log, the document does not identify any formal criminal charges filed against the two suspects.
Deputies used a drone while checking the inside of the large retail building. Multiple deputies remained at the scene for several hours as they cleared the store, collected evidence and arranged for a damaged vehicle to be removed.
The Sheriff’s Office classified the call as an alarm and burglary investigation. The incident remained under investigation.
