Woman Arrested Following Reported Assault, Hourslong Incident in Polk
POLK, OH — An Ashland County woman was arrested Tuesday following a reported assault and an hourslong law enforcement response at a North Main Street residence in Polk.
According to an Ashland County Sheriff’s Office dispatch log, deputies were called to 402 N. Main St. at approximately 8:18 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, for a disturbance involving a woman reportedly yelling at people.
Dispatchers were subsequently advised that a man had been assaulted and had returned to his side of the residence.
The incident report identifies the alleged victim as 60-year-old male. Ruby Jane Hernandez, 34, was listed as the arrestee.
Deputies arrived at the residence at approximately 8:32 a.m. At one point, dispatchers attempted to contact Hernandez and ask her to come outside, but the call was unsuccessful.
Shortly before 10:50 a.m., deputies reported that they were waiting for a search warrant before entering the residence. Additional personnel, including Ashland County Sheriff Kurt Schneider, responded during the incident.
The dispatch log indicates Hernandez was read her Miranda rights at approximately 12:44 p.m. Deputies left the scene for the Ashland County Jail shortly before 1 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Office classified the call as a disturbance and assault. The specific criminal charges filed against Hernandez were not included in the dispatch report.
The incident remains under investigation, and the Sheriff’s Office indicated that a full report would be completed. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
