Ashland Police Release New Details in Road Rage Incident Involving Firearm
ASHLAND, Ohio — Ashland Police have released additional information following a road rage incident involving a firearm Tuesday morning near the intersection of U.S. Route 42 and East Main Street.
According to a June 16 press release from Ashland Police Chief Curt Dorsey, officers are investigating an incident that happened at approximately 6:45 a.m. The incident involved a motorcyclist and a work crew that was headed to a job site outside of Ashland County.
Police said the confrontation came to a head at the intersection and became a physical altercation between the motorcyclist and an occupant of the truck. During the altercation, a firearm was discharged, but no one was struck.
Ashland Police said all parties have been accounted for and the firearm has been seized. At this time, no formal charges have been filed. The case remains under investigation and will be reviewed for possible charges.
Chief Dorsey stated the incident appears to be isolated and that there are no safety concerns for the community at this time.
The update follows an earlier response from Ashland Police Division Captain Craig Kiley, who said the investigation was ongoing and that there was no danger to the public.
