Semi Rollover With Hazmat Spill Closes State Route 604 in Wayne County

 

CONGRESS TOWNSHIP — State Route 604 near mile marker 7 in Congress Township was closed for several hours Monday after a semi tractor-trailer rolled over and spilled hazardous material, according to the Wayne County Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at approximately 8 a.m. on State Route 604 in Wayne County.

According to the Highway Patrol, the semi involved was a 2006 Peterbilt 378. Troopers said the driver was traveling westbound on State Route 604 when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway into the ditch line, came back on the highway, going off the left side of the roadway into the ditch line, overturned and came to rest on its top across the road.

The driver, Brian Fox, 63, from Marshallville, was transported to Lodi Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash caused a closure of State Route 604 while crews worked at the scene and addressed the hazmat spill. The roadway reopened at approximately 2:44 p.m., according to the Highway Patrol.

Troopers said drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the crash. The driver was not wearing a seat-belt at the time of the crash, according to the patrol.

The driver was cited for failure to maintain control, seat-belt.
