Ashland’s Newest Police Officer Earns Recognition From Prosecutor
ASHLAND — Ashland’s newest police officer is already making an impact on the streets.
Officer Emily Borling, who officially joined the Ashland Division of Police in March, was recognized by Ashland County Prosecuting Attorney Christopher R. Tunnell after three of her cases were presented during the June session of the Ashland County Grand Jury.
According to a June 25 press release from Tunnell’s office, Borling’s three cases resulted in felony charges, including domestic violence, aggravated possession of drugs and possession of cocaine.
Tunnell said officers who have three or more cases presented in a single Grand Jury session are awarded a duck by the prosecutor’s office in recognition of their work and dedication.
“It’s not easy getting a case to grand jury,” Tunnell said. “The evidence needs to be complete and requires an officer to be thorough. Getting three or more before a Grand Jury is an extreme achievement, especially for a road officer.”
Tunnell also noted that road patrol officers often move from call to call with limited time, making Borling’s accomplishment stand out.
“Officer Borling has done a great job with these cases,” Tunnell said. “We are all safer for having her out there.”
