Flock Cameras Vandalized Across Ashland, Police Investigating
ASHLAND, Ohio — Ashland Police are investigating after multiple Flock cameras were reportedly damaged across the city late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.
According to a Wooster-Ashland Regional 911 Council of Governments call summary report, police were first dispatched around 10:34 p.m. on July 8 to the area of Arby’s on Claremont Avenue after a caller reported large vehicle parts in the roadway. The caller advised that multiple pieces of what appeared to be a car bumper were in the middle of two lanes.
When officers arrived, they reported it appeared someone had driven through a Flock camera. As the investigation continued, police noted additional Flock cameras had also been damaged, including cameras near Meadow Brook, West Main Street, the State Route 42 and U.S. 250 bypass area, and near Home Depot.
A separate call summary report from Thursday morning stated the stop sign at the south side of the Home Depot parking lot on Sugarbush Drive had been knocked down, and a mailbox had also been run over. That report also referenced the earlier Flock camera vandalism call.
Police issued a BOLO to Ashland County and surrounding agencies, advising that Flock cameras in Ashland were being vandalized. Officers also checked with Ashland University Security Services, and the report notes AU Security had footage and wanted to speak with an officer.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the damaged cameras is encouraged to contact the Ashland Police Division.
