Mansfield Man Dies After Motorcycle Strikes SUV on Park Avenue
MANSFIELD, Ohio — A Mansfield man died early Saturday morning after a motorcycle struck the rear of an SUV on Park Avenue near Adams Street, according to the Mansfield Patrol Post.
The crash happened at 2:27 a.m. in the City of Mansfield.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 2021 Ford Expedition, driven by David Kirst, 49, of Mansfield, was traveling westbound at the traffic signal on Park Avenue at Adams Street.
A 2001 Yamaha FZS1000 motorcycle, operated by Samuel Simmons, 30, of Mansfield, was also traveling westbound on Park Avenue and approaching Adams Street when it struck the rear of the Ford Expedition.
Simmons was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Mansfield Police Department, Shelby Police Department, Mansfield Fire Department, and Auer’s Towing assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mansfield Patrol Post.
