Mansfield Police Investigating Homicide After 18-Year-Old Woman Shot Inside Home
MANSFIELD, Ohio — The Mansfield Division of Police is investigating a homicide after an 18-year-old woman was shot inside a residence late Wednesday night.
According to a news release from the Mansfield Department of Police, officers were called to 794 W. 3rd St. in Mansfield at approximately 10:38 p.m. on May 20, 2026, for a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found the victim, identified as Le’ondra Messner, 18, inside the home. Police said Messner appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds. She was transported to OhioHealth, where she later died from her injuries.
Investigators said early information indicates the shots may have been fired from close range outside the residence, through a window near where Messner was located at the time of the shooting.
Police emphasized that the investigation remains in its early stages, with detectives continuing to work to determine exactly what happened.
