Troopers Investigating a Two Vehicle Fatal Crash on US-30 and State Route 89 in Ashland County
Mohican Township – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on June 5, 2026. The crash occurred at the intersection of US-30 and State Route 89 within Mohican Township of Ashland County, Ohio.
Jeanette E. Vibbert, 66, of North Ridgeville, Ohio was operating a 2006 tan Hyundai Elantra sedan. Mrs. Vibbert was traveling south on SR-89 and was attempting to go west onto US-30. Mrs. Vibbert was transported to Ohio Health Hospital Mansfield and pronounced deceased shortly after. Mrs. Vibbert was wearing a seatbelt at the time of crash.
Jason C. Hazen, 45, of Jeromesville, Ohio, was operating a 2016 gray Jeep Cherokee SUV. Mr. Hazen was traveling westbound on US-30 and wearing his seatbelt at the time of crash.
Initial investigation revealed that Mrs. Vibbert was southbound on SR-89 and failed to yield from a stop sign at the intersection with US-30 westbound. Mr. Hazen was traveling westbound on US-30 and struck Mrs. Vibbert on the passenger side. Both vehicles then traveled off the south side of US-30 into the grass median.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Jeromesville Fire & EMS, Hayesville Fire & EMS, and Gearhart’s Towing.
