Ashland Police Investigating Road Rage Incident Involving Gunfire
ASHLAND, Ohio — The Ashland Police Division is investigating a reported road rage incident this morning near U.S. Route 42 and East Main Street that involved a firearm being discharged.
According to the APD call summary report, the call came in at approximately 6:44 a.m. on June 16, 2026, and was listed as a road rage incident. The report states that the caller told dispatchers he had been assaulted by a male in a black truck with a trailer, and that another person also became involved.
The 911 report states the caller fired one shot into the ground and then placed the gun on top of a motorcycle. Dispatch notes listed the incident as involving a weapon and stated the caller had a handgun in his possession. The report also noted that more than two vehicles were involved.
Ashland officers responded to the area, and the report indicates a male was detained around 6:46 a.m. Officers were also noted as checking the intersection of Main Street for evidence, with evidence taken to the station.
ACP News reached out to Ashland Police Division Captain Craig Kiley, who said, “I don’t have anything to give out yet, except to say there’s no danger to the public and currently its ongoing investigation.”
The incident remains under investigation by the Ashland Police Division. No additional details have been released at this time.
