Santa’s Summer Bash Brings Christmas in July to Ashland Sunday

ASHLAND, Ohio — Santa Claus and the Grinch are trading snow for sunshine during Santa’s Summer Bash, a Christmas in July festival planned for Sunday, July 26, at Freer Field in Ashland.

The free family event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Freer Field, located at 1301 Park St.

According to organizer Melissa Trimble, Santa will receive a special escort to the festival from the Ashland Fire Department around noon. Santa and the Grinch will be available from noon to 4 p.m. for photographs and visits with families, although organizers warn that the Grinch may be looking to cause a little trouble along the way.

The festival will feature games, crafts, gifts for children, music, food trucks and local vendors. Families will also have an opportunity to participate in basket raffles featuring items from area businesses and a 50/50 drawing.

The event is organized through For the Love of Christmas, with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit United Homefront Initiative.

“We help veterans, the elderly and disabled,” Trimble said.

United Homefront Initiative currently serves residents in Ashland, Richland and Wayne counties, with hopes of eventually expanding its services throughout Ohio.

Admission is free, and everyone is welcome to attend. Those seeking additional information may contact Melissa or Kayla at 330-317-8975 or email unitedhomefront@usa.com.
