DIANNE’S DOGHOUSE
Tears of Joy
Last week, on a crisp and cool sunny morning, the pups and I took our usual walk up Center Street. We crossed the hospital parking lot and continued down the path that housed the public playground adjacent to Dale Roy school.
Suddenly nine children came running out of the playground and were heading directly towards us ready to pet all three dogs. Grace and Joseph are two confident, very friendly dogs, while Joy is the very shy quiet one. It was circle time with Grace and Joseph going left, right, behind and front while Joy hovered between my legs.
Then I noticed Joy moving in front as she sought out her own little boy—cute, blond, maybe six years old and very shy. He was waiting for Joy to come to him. Boy and pup immediately bonded. The little guy talked quietly, smiled and then lowered himself to Joy for kisses.
It was a match made in Heaven!
Soon a gentleman walked over to us with tears in his eyes and said, “He has no words! My son has no words.” We watched as his boy talked to Joy then hugged her and left with his dad.
Everything beautiful and enriching in my life today was born through my journey with dogs, Dogs helped me grow in character, compassion and faithfulness. Dogs led me to a clear perspective on what really matters. Because of my dogs, I don’t take things for granted, I am grateful for each day, and I am certain the best is yet to come.
Today I live an awesome life, a radically inspired life and what makes me the happiest is watching my dogs give comfort and acceptance to their human friends. In my experience, believing that God works through all things, frees me from the stress of worrying each day, of being weigh down by the tragedies around me.
Believing opens my heart to love and opens my eyes to possibility and the truth that my life and every life matters profoundly.
Blessings,
