Two Juveniles Injured, One Critically, in ATV Crash on State Route 113 in Erie County

 

MILAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Sandusky Post is investigating a serious injury crash involving an all-terrain vehicle and a passenger vehicle in Erie County.

The crash happened Saturday, June 20, 2026, at approximately 1:45 p.m. in the eastbound lane of State Route 113 near milepost 10 in Milan Township.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 13-year-old juvenile was operating an all-terrain vehicle northbound from a private drive. A 2021 Toyota Rav4, driven by Martin Klenk of Berlin Heights, was traveling eastbound on State Route 113.

Troopers said the ATV entered the roadway and was struck by the Toyota. The ATV then caught fire.

After the impact, the Toyota traveled off the left side of the roadway, overturned, and struck a utility pole.

The 13-year-old ATV operator and a 10-year-old juvenile passenger were both transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center. The 10-year-old passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and was later flown by LifeFlight to UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.

State Route 113 was closed for approximately one hour and 50 minutes while emergency crews responded and the crash scene was cleared. The roadway has since reopened.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, North Central EMS, Huron Township EMS, Milan Township Fire and EMS, and Lucky’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
