Ashland’s Guy C. Myers Band Shell Sets Stage For Exciting 77th Summer Concert Series

ASHLAND — Summer nights in Ashland are about to come alive with music, magic, family entertainment and community tradition as the Guy C. Myers Memorial Band Shell prepares to host its 77th Annual Summer Concert Series.

The 2026 lineup promises something for nearly everyone, from big band sounds and classic rock tributes to blues, symphonic music, ballet, magic, rescued dogs and patriotic favorites. The concerts are free and open to all, with most performances scheduled from 8 to 9:15 p.m. at the scenic Band Shell.

The season opens Sunday, June 14, with The Magic of Eli at 6 p.m. at the Upper Pavilion, followed by Canyon Echos at 8 p.m., bringing the sounds of the Laurel Canyon folk-rock era with tributes to The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, CSNY, The Eagles and Neil Young.

From there, the summer schedule rolls into a packed lineup. Highlights include Duo Balalaika on June 18, the Ashland Area Community Concert Band on June 21, Brass Express on June 25, and the Ashland Symphony Orchestra’s beloved “Pops in the Park” on June 28. That performance will feature Grammy-winning conductor Michael Repper and patriotic favorites, including the 1812 Overture, complete with booming cannons, weather permitting.

Classic rock fans will have plenty to cheer about in July, with ONE, U-2 Tribute on July 5, The Blue Leaf on July 9, Soul Town on July 16, and One Night With You – Reflections of Elvis on July 26. Blues lovers can catch the PK Mayo Blues Band on July 2, while families will not want to miss Puppy Pals Live on July 19, featuring rescued and adopted dogs performing stunts in a show seen on America’s Got Talent.

One of the biggest names on the schedule is Richard Goodall, the Terre Haute, Indiana elementary school janitor who captured America’s attention and won Season 19 of American Idol in 2024. Goodall is scheduled to perform Sunday, July 12.

The tradition continues later in the summer with the 27th Annual Ashland Chautauqua, scheduled July 21-25, with opening acts at 7 p.m. and performances at 8 p.m. This year’s theme is “America’s Stories.”

August will bring even more crowd favorites, including BLUE on Aug. 2, Rare Vintage 10 – Jimmy Buffett Tribute on Aug. 6, Ashland Regional Ballet on Aug. 9, Phil Dirt & The Dozers Presents Surf’s Up on Aug. 13, and Head Games, a Foreigner tribute, closing out the series on Aug. 16.

The concert series is coordinated through the City of Ashland Parks & Recreation Department. Judith Webster serves as Band Shell coordinator, Jason Counts is city services director, and Matt Miller is mayor. The city notes that the long-running summer series is made possible through the support of area businesses and individuals.

Those interested in supporting the Band Shell may contribute at several gift levels, including Rehearsal, Applause, Ovation and Encore levels. Full concert sponsorships and co-sponsorships are also available, with contributors recognized in the summer brochure.
